Denmark: The 390-room hotel, the latest venture by Nordic Hotels & Resorts, has made three key senior appointments with 50 per cent of all management positions handed to women.

The eco-architectural hotel, housed in the century-old Danish Post and Telegraph office, opened in July 2020.

The new appointments include Lisette Jönsson as director of operations, Nini Andersen as director of brand and marketing, and Annette Engmose as director of people and culture.

Jönsson is responsible for creating cohesive procedures across all hotel departments and supporting the full leadership team in strategy execution and revenue optimisation. She holds a 15 year career in hospitality, starting in a front desk position at Hotel Skansen Båstad and Grand Hotel Stockholm, before working up to hotel manager for Clarion Hotel Copenhagen Airport.

Jönsson joined the Villa Copenhagen pre-opening team in 2019 and helped implement its COVID-19 sanitisation and social distancing procedures, including keyless entry, remote or open-air check-ins, virtual check-out, and personalised food and beverage services.

Andersen brings over eight years of experience to her role, having worked within the design, lifestyle and retail sectors. Since joining Villa Copenhagen during the hotel build and restoration, Andersen helped communicate the hotel’s identity as a sustainable and wellbeing hub, while establishing a close relationship with the local community.

Engmose has more than 17 years of experience in human resources and previously held the position of head of human resources at Heinmann Retail Denmark. In her role, Engmose will oversee all recruitment, team development and training programmes, providing a framework for growth and wellbeing for staff.

Peter Høgh Pedersen, managing director of Villa Copenhagen, commented: “I am proud to work alongside these talented women who, due to their work ethic, creativity, and unwavering commitment, have been integral to making Villa Copenhagen a joyful and enriching destination for conscious travellers, local visitors, and our team members alike. While it was important to build a management team of inspiring leaders who represent our values and standards, it was equally important to select the best people for the positions. Just one month into our official debut, Lisette, Nini, and Annette have already shown this to be true.”

Villa Copenhagen is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and the latest independent venture by Nordic Hotels & Resorts. It upholds the group’s commitment to eco-sustainability through a variety of on-property practices and amenities, including Earth Suite, made from sustainable materials, interior green spaces, and a variety of zero waste dining options.FacebookTwitterLinkedIn
